![]() We are about to embark on a magnificent journey through
lands of legend and sacred landscapes aboard a beautiful,
private and fully-appointed sailing vessel. We’ll follow in
the footsteps of one of the Bible’s most influential figures,
exploring some of the most beautiful sites and monuments
visited by Paul the Apostle during his 1st-century journeys.
Every day aboard the ship — which is known as a “gulet” in
the region - will bring the opportunity to swim and explore
the marine world of the crystal clear waters of secluded
coves along the stunning Turkish coast, or simply relax
aboard and soak in the majestic scenery that inspired some
of the world’s most well-known myths and legends. Following
the sea journey, the adventure continues on land as we
explore some of the most important ancient sites of Turkey
and Cyprus.

ItineraryJune 1 Friday | Depart New York — Fly Istanbul
June 2 Sat | Arrive Istanbul — Take the connection flight to
Bodrum
Welcome to Bodrum on the Aegean Sea! Your journey of a lifetime begins
here. Upon arrival, your tour guide will meet you after the customs
and baggage claim with a “BAS” sign to take you to your gulet for embarkation.
Following a short orientation of beautiful Bodrum Marina, we
will have dinner onboard. Overnight on the gulet. (D)
June 3 Sun | Bodrum Castle — Start Sailing by Gulet — Cnidus
After breakfast, we will walk to the Bodrum Castle to visit the worldrenowned
Underwater Archaeology Museum. Upon return to the gulet,
we’ll cast off and set sail along one of the most beautiful coastlines in
the world. Departing from Bodrum Marina, we sail to Cnidus, one of the
ancient Greek cities of the Dorian Hexopolis. Lunch and dinner onboard,
overnight on the gulet. (B,L,D)
June 4 Mon | Sail by Gulet — Datca Peninsula
We begin our morning after breakfast with an exploration of Cnidus,
which Paul saw on his journey to Rome (Acts 27:7). Lunch and dinner

June 5 Tues | Sail by Gulet — Loryma
Hike to the acropolis and city walls of the Carian city of Loryma, one of the cities of ancient Greece that features magnificent views and ruins. Lunch and dinner onboard, overnight on the gulet. (B,L,D)
June 6 Wed | Sail by Gulet — Dalyan — Kaunos
This morning we cast off to sail past Rhodes, where Paul stopped in
Acts 21:1, before we continue on to the ancient Greek city of Kaunos,
with its beautifully-preserved theater. Lunch and dinner onboard, overnight

June 7 Thurs | Sail by Gulet — Marmaris
Today we continue our maritime journey by sailing to the ancient Carian
city of Physkos, whose history goes back to 3500 B.C. The small
and charming port of Marmaris is a wonder in itself, perched along the
shores of a beautiful bay with pine-studded mountains as its backdrop.

June 8 Fri | Leave Sailing Boat — Xanthos — Patara — Kalkan
Today we conclude the first part of our adventure as we bid farewell
to our gulet and its hospitable crew. Our morning begins with a visit to
ancient Xanthos. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988,
Xanthos was ancient Lycia’s largest and most important city. We’ll then
continue on to Patara, an ancient maritime city that Paul visited on his
third journey (Acts 21:1). Patara features a magnificent theater, assembly
building and lighthouse. Dinner and overnight in Kalkan. (B,D)
June 9 Sat | Andriake — Myra — Phaselis — Antalya
Our morning begins with a breathtaking drive along the Mediterranean coast, after which we will arrive at Andriake, where Paul changed ships on his way to Rome (Acts 27:5). There we will see the newly discovered synagogue. We’ll then continue on to the ancient site of Myra, with its Roman theater and Lycian tombs. Today Myra is
best known as the city of St. Nicholas, where he served as bishop in the fourth century A.D. After visiting Myra we will visit the harbor city of Phaselis (1 Maccabees 15:23). Dinner and overnight in Antalya. (B,D)
June 10 Sun | Attalia — Perga — Aspendus
Our day begins with an exploration of Perga, where we’ll experience the Pamphylian city that Paul and Barnabas visited during their first journey (Acts 13:13-14). At Aspendus we will see the best-preserved Roman theater in Turkey, which is still used for musical and theatrical performances. We then return to Antalya for a walking tour of the old city of Kaleiçi, where we will see the harbor that Paul and Barnabas departed from in Acts 14:25, as well as Hadrian’s Gate - a beautifully preserved testament to Roman architecture. Dinner and overnight in Antalya. (B,D)
June 11 Mon | Antalya Airport — Fly to Cyprus — Salamis — Overnight Girne
Transfer to Antalya Airport. Fly to Northern Cyprus in the morning. Tour the ancient city of Salamis. Drive to Famagusta. After a quick visit of the old city of Famagusta (housing ruins of many medieval churches and fortifications) the excursion will continue with another 10 minutes drive to the ancient city of Salamis, where Paul and Barnabas landed ([Acts 13:5]. Some of the Roman bath houses, the gymnasium, some early Christian basilicas, cisterns, mills and houses will be in the program. On the way back to the hotel the bus will stop by the monastery of St. Barnabas. The monastery is an icon museum today. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Girne. (B,D)
June 12 Tues | Paphos — Girne
After breakfast we will depart for a full day excursion to Paphos in Southern
Cyprus. Paphos was a center of the cult of Aphrodite and later was
the scene of Paul’s power encounter with the sorcerer, Bar Jesus. The
Roman governor, Sergius Paulus, became a believer after hearing Paul
preach here (Acts 13:6-12). The site features extensive remains of villas
and palaces, and the mosaics of Neo Paphos are among the most
beautiful in the world. After visting Paphos, we return to Girme for dinner
and overnight. (B.D.)
June 13 Wed | Northern Cyprus - Fly Istanbul
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the airport in northern Cyprus for our flight
to Istanbul, where we will be met and transferred to our hotel. Following
a short orientation of this ancient and glorious city, we will take a
leisurely private boat tour along the Bosphorus, the legendary waterway
that connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, and which divides
Istanbul into two continents: Asia and Europe. Once the capital of two of
the world’s most important empires—the Byzantine and the Ottoman—
Istanbul represents the best of both in its stunning monuments, architectural
wonders and world-class museums. Following the Bosphorus
cruise we will stroll through the colorful spice bazaar — famous the world
over for its exotic spices and sweets. Return to the hotel for dinner and
overnight. (B,D).
June 14 Thurs | Byzantium — Constantinople — Istanbul
Today we explore the wonders of Istanbul. Beginning with the stunning, subterranean Basilica Cistern, we move on to the Golden Mile of the Egnatian Way, Hippodrome Square, and the breathtaking Blue Mosque as well as the magnificent, 1700-year-old Hagia Sophia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, we will make our way to Istanbul’s Archaeological Museum—one of the most celebrated collections in the world. Among its treasures are the Siloam inscription, the Gezer calendar, and the beautiful “Jerusalem mosaic” depicting Orpheus. Tonight is the farewell dinner at a lovely local restaurant in Istanbul. June 15 Fri | Istanbul Airport — Fly back to New York
Today we conclude our wonderful adventure in the land of legend and hospitality as we transfer to the Istanbul airport for our flight back to the U.S., arriving in New York the same day. (B)

Mark Wilson combines thorough knowledge of the Bible with an intimate familiarity with Turkey’s historic sites. Mark Wilson is the director of the Asia Minor Research Center in Izmir, Turkey. Mark received his doctorate in Biblical Studies from the University of South Africa (Pretoria), where he serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology. He is currently Visiting Professor of Early Christianity at Regent University and leads field studies in Turkey for several universities and seminaries. He is the author of Charts on the Book of Revelation, the revising editor of The Cities of St. Paul, editor of Constantinople and the Scenery of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor and the author of “The Book of Revelation” in the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary. Professor Wilson also served as a consultant for “The First Christians” in the History Channel’s “Lost Worlds” series.
